Give me reasons to buy Scopefun

Ok, we have a board which costs 650 euro. Why should I buy it if I can find 100 MHz (with 12 bit resolution, by the way) oscilloscope in China with a nice 600x800 TFT screen, which looks like an oscilloscope and cost 2 times less? I need good reasons.

First of all, you should compare all specifications, because ScopeFun is not just an oscilloscope. It also provides two analog generators (12-bit 200 MSPS AWG), 12 digital channels (Logic analyzer, Digital pattern generator, GPIO) and 128,000,000 samples of buffer per channel.
On the software side, it can run on Windows, Linux and Mac. And supports advanced features like 3D rendering, virtual persistence, Python API and server mode for remote access via IP network.
Also, because it is fully open source, it gives you an opportunity to extend it's features exactly the way you want.
But even if you don't care about the open source aspect, I think you can't find a similar specifications device for the same price (again, if you are not looking only at oscilloscope function)

Actually, I am mainly looking for an oscilloscope device. And I belive, the majority of people here also care mostly about this functionality. Everything else is just a "nice to have feature". I care more about vertical resolution and will be happy with 20 000 000 points in the buffer like in Chineese one. The last also comes with a waveform generator (triangular, square wave, waveform storage (up to 50)), math functions, etc. Now we have

12-bit vs 10-bit in Scopefun (4 times worse vertical resolution)
1 GSps vs 500 MSps in Scopefun (2 times lower sampling rate)
8 inch display vs bare PCB

I am ok with that characteristics of ScopeFun, BUT:
the price is 2 times higher.

This open source project reminds me TaxFree shops in the airport. The terms such "tax free" and "open source" are supposed to make things less expensive, but in reality they don't.

I would expect the price to be two times lower than existing commercial solutions, not 2 times more expensive.

Again, I believe that ScopeFun price is comparable to other commercial devices, if you consider all the features. The "nice to have features" cost money to implement, so unfortunately it can't be any cheaper.
There are some people who need more than a simple oscilloscope. But, in the end it's your decision what you need. If you need only a simple oscilloscope, then maybe you are better off buying a cheap Chinese one, like you said.

No, I don't want a "simple" oscilloscope. The one I am talking about is 4 times more precise in vertical resolution, two times higher sampling rate, nice 6 inch screen. Yes,  it is twice cheaper, but it does not make it "simpler" than ScopeFun.

Man, I would recommend that you buy that perfect oscilloscope that cost you twice less than scopefun. You need to understand something. It is Open Source. You know meaning of open source. You can extend its features, implement your own logic and whatever within the capabilities of hardware. If you are not in this domain then simply log out and buy commercial 2 times cheaper oscilloscope. You are wasting everyone's time. One more thing. This is not a commercial company that will get 10,000 boards assembled and sold. So cost will be high. You will understand everything if you are in this domain. I myself is in business domain and part of very big corporate company and everything makes sense to me. So honest advise. Log out and buy that 2 times less cost oscilloscope.

FYI, I am not linked to this development nor getting any benefit. But your comments really forced me to comment here.

No, I am not in business domain of open source projects. But let me speak from the customer side. And you better listen. The person who has raised the price of this product to over 600$ have simply killed it. Do you really think you can find a lot of enthusiasts who will spend several month to modify the source code to fit their specific measurements? Or buy an oven to solder the microcontroller and fpga in this awful packages? I don't think so.

In Germany we have a good term for that: it's 'Lehrgeld' you pay.
As the crowdfunding compaign showed, there are quite a few people out there, who are eager to learn ;)
